24 Fun Activities To Do With Kids For Countdown Towards Christmas

Can you believe it's going to be December in less than a week! This entire year has flown by just like a blink... While the world is still trying to figure out a way to live with the pandemic, I believe most of us are pretty much ready for getting back to normal life. There's definitely some early Christmas vibes in our house: the Christmas lights are up and twinkling, the Christmas music is on all day long and the holiday online shopping parcels are on the way.

When I was digging up my Christmas decorations, I came up with this idea of making a new advent calendar with 24 family activities for the countdown towards Christmas. Everyday you unwrap an activity card and do what the card says. It can be as sweet as drinking a hot cocoa with lots and lots of marshmallows, or it can be as fun as playing in the snow and building a snowman. A whole month loaded with holiday spirit and I'm sure the kids will love it!

So here's the list of 24 activities I've got so far. (Actually I counted later after finishing all my drawings and it turned out to be a list of 38... oh well, you can pick and choose, how about that ;) )

1. Drive around & look at Christmas lights

2. Put up Christmas lights around the house

3. Write a letter to Santa

4. Visit a Christmas market

5. Make a holiday drink

6. Go Christmas tree cutting at a Christmas tree farm

7. Decorate Christmas tree

8. Visit Santa

9. Create a holiday tradition

10. Build a snowman

11. Make gingerbread house

12. Start a "You've been socked" chain (maybe with a social media twist, be creative)

13. Take a family Christmas photo

14. Listen to Christmas songs

15. Watch a Christmas movie

16. Donate a toy to someone in need

17. Wrap gifts & put them under the tree

18. Bake Christmas cookies

19. Make a Christmas card and give it to teacher

20. Read a Christmas book

21. Wish someone "Happy holidays!"

22. Eat a candy cane, or two

23. Make the house smell like Christmas

24. Wear ugly sweater

25. Wear Christmas pyjamas

26. Make a snow angel

27. Go for a winter trail walk

28. Go ice-skating

29. Go to a Christmas concert
